Free Mental Health Resources to Support You and Your Child: An A–Z Guide and Daily Journal

//

In today’s fast paced world, many young people and adults experience moments of worry, stress, or overwhelm. As parents, carers, and educators, we often want to help but are not always sure where to start.

At The Calmness Crew, our mission is simple: empowering lives with simple tools! We believe that small, simple tools can make a powerful difference to someone’s mental wellbeing. That is why we have created two free resources designed to gently support positive mental health habits: an A to Z Guide for Mental Health and a Daily Wellbeing Journal.

The resources include practical techniques backed by research, alongside uplifting quotes and prompts designed to help young people pause, reflect, and build healthy mental habits.

Why Small Daily Habits Matter

Mental health is not only about what we do when things feel difficult. It is also about the small habits we build every day that support resilience, calm, and confidence.

Research consistently shows that simple practices such as:

Breathing exercises
Gratitude
Positive affirmations
Mindfulness
Journaling

can help reduce stress, improve mood, and support emotional regulation.

The good news is that these techniques do not need to take a lot of time. Often, just a few minutes a day can make a meaningful difference.

That is exactly what inspired these two free resources.

The A to Z Guide to Mental Wellbeing

The A to Z Guide is designed as a simple and encouraging way to introduce a wide range of wellbeing techniques.

Each letter represents a positive mental health idea or tool. For example:

A for And Thankfully
B for Breathing
G for Gratitude
M for Mindset
S for Smile

Each section includes a short explanation and an easy technique to try. The aim is not to overwhelm but to offer small, accessible ideas that young people can experiment with and discover what works for them.

Sometimes just learning a new way to pause and reset, like a calming breathing technique, can be incredibly empowering.

The guide also includes uplifting quotes throughout to provide little reminders of hope, strength, and positivity.

The Daily Wellbeing Journal

Alongside the A to Z guide, we have created a Daily Wellbeing Journal.

Journaling is widely recognised as a powerful tool for mental wellbeing. Studies suggest that writing about thoughts and feelings can help people process emotions, reduce anxiety, and gain clarity.

This journal encourages young people to build simple daily habits such as:

Writing down what's on their mind                                                                                        Reflecting on what went well today
Writing down something they are grateful for
What to take action on tomorrow

It is not about writing perfectly or filling pages. Instead, it is about creating a safe moment of reflection each day.

Over time, these small moments can help young people build self awareness, resilience, and a more positive mindset.

Supporting Young People Through Everyday Tools

These resources were created from a place that many parents and carers will recognise: wanting to support young people who are navigating big emotions.

Many children and teenagers today face pressures that previous generations did not experience in the same way, from social media to academic pressure and uncertainty about the future.

While we cannot remove every challenge, we can give young people tools that help them feel calmer, more confident, and more in control of their emotions.

Sometimes a simple prompt, quote, or breathing exercise can become a small anchor during a difficult moment.

Free for Anyone Who Needs Them

We believe that mental wellbeing support should be accessible to everyone.

That is why both the A to Z Guide and the Daily Wellbeing Journal are available completely free to download.

Whether you are a parent, teacher, youth worker, or young person yourself, you are very welcome to use and share these resources.

Our hope is that they spark conversations, encourage positive habits, and remind young people that looking after their mental health matters.

A Small Step Towards Calm

Mental wellbeing is a journey, and every small step counts.

If these resources help even one young person feel a little calmer, more hopeful, or more understood, then they have done their job.

And if you know someone who might benefit from them, please feel free to share them.

Together, we can help create a world where young people feel supported, empowered, and equipped with the tools they need to thrive.
